Clinic Do's and Don'ts

Please read through the following list and be prepared to comply with the following.

Do fast before your appointment if you are asked to do so.

If you are advised to fast before your appointment you must fast. If there is a medical reason (i.e. diabetes) why you cannot fast, let the doctor know.

If you were supposed to fast before your appointment and you did not, please inform your nurse and doctor. This is for your own protection and the protection of the staff. Eating before certain procedures can cause medical complications that can be dangerous to patients and staff.

Do prepare yourself for possible complications.

After caudal or epidural treatments, sometimes people experience reduced motor sensation in their legs. If this occurs you may have to temporarily use a wheelchair in the recovery room. You must also void your bladder every hour as bladder sensation will be greatly reduced.

Do switch off all cell phones and wireless devices.

All cell phones and wireless devices must be turned off while in the clinic. You cannot set your phone to vibrate or silent; it must be turned off. The signals from wireless devices can cause medical equipment to malfunction. If there is an emergency in the waiting room or other area of the clinic, a wireless device could cause emergency medical equipment to malfunction.

Do leave your valuables at home.

Do not leave valuable items unattended. We are not responsible for any personal property at the clinic. Our staff will not “hold” or watch over any property belonging to patients. Patients are advised to bring their valuables with them wherever they go in the Rothbart Centre. Patients are advised to leave any large or bulky items in their vehicle or at home.

Do not wear perfume, cologne, body spray, or other scented items to the clinic.

The clinic is a scent-free environment. This applies to all patients, visitors, doctors, and staff. Do not wear any scented items to the clinic. Patients and staff members are allergic to these scents and chemicals. In sensitive people, exposure to perfume or cologne can trigger severe headaches and respiratory problems.

This is a serious health issue and this policy will be enforced. If you come to the clinic wearing a scent after being informed of our policy, you will be asked to leave. If you are a patient attending an appointment you will not be permitted to keep your appointment. You will be asked to reschedule for another day.

Do not use musical or noise-making devices in the clinic.

Many patients have chronic headaches that are triggered by sound. Do not use music or noise-making devices in the clinic.

Do call us if you cannot attend your appointment.

If you are going to be late or need to cancel your appointment do call us and let us know. If you do not show up to an appointment and do not give notice of cancellation in advance, the doctor reserves the right to charge a fee, or you may not be offered another appointment.

Do not bring children to the clinic.

Any child eleven years of age or younger is not allowed in the clinic at any time. This includes waiting areas.

Youths between the ages of twelve and sixteen are permitted in the waiting room only if a parent or legal guardian accompanies them at all times.

The parent or legal guardian responsible for the children must not be a patient of the clinic undergoing any type of consultation or treatment.

Patients who check in for appointments with children under the age of twelve or with children between the ages of twelve and sixteen with no adult supervision will be sent home without seeing the doctor.

Do not bring animals or pets to the clinic.

With the exception of professionally trained service dogs, no animals are permitted on the premises.

Is there anything else I need to know?

All the essential have been explained. However, if you have any questions feel free to call or email the clinic.
