Before chronic pain can be treated it must be diagnosed.
We start by looking at the personal history of the patient in detail. We examine the patient’s medical records. We ask the patient for information about their current state of health, previous injuries, medical treatments, medications, accidents, physical activity, general health issues, and hereditary health issues.
We perform a comprehensive physical examination to determine the overall health of the patient. We also examine all parts of the body that we suspect may be a source of chronic pain. Special attention is paid to areas of chronic pain, as identified by the patient. We may use investigative techniques such as x-ray, CT, MRI, and diagnostic blocks.
Once the diagnosis is complete the doctor will produce a consultation report. If the patient is a candidate for treatment, a treatment plan will be formulated and treatment can begin.
